I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks since I last shared an update. Eeek!
Short version: We’re still in NM and it’s still snowing.
Long version: AC has been busy at the ski school. So busy, in fact, that she suggested I go home the week between Christmas and New Years since that is peak week on the slopes so she wouldn’t be around much. So I did. And it was great!
My parents scooped me up for the airport on Christmas Day. The next morning, we headed to TN to visit my sister and her crew.
While in TN, I took the opportunity to check out a few (or 7) properties that we’ve had our eye on. Out of those 7, one is still on the list. That’s why we visit in-person, right?! The hunt continues.
I also got to meet my new nephew! My sister had her second little nugget in October so little Thomas and I got lots of good snuggle time. I also got some time with Thomas’ big brother, Miles. At this point, Miles thinks guys are way cooler than gals (the sole exception being his mom) so I’m not his first pick when it comes to playmates, though we did color a bit together. Little does he know that I’m the cool aunt who will eventually have a farm full o’ fun for him to enjoy whenever he wants. Anywho, he started warming up to me by the end of my visit and I even got a hug on my way out!

You know what else I got on the way out? That gnarly cold that’s been going around. So the rest of my trip home was pretty low key as I tried to recover and went back to work.
During my trip home, AC’s sister, brother-in-law, and their 6 children visited NM. The goal was for the kids to try out skiing for the first time. From what I hear, it was psuedo-successful. 4 of the kids made it to the slopes, but 2 of those only lasted for one run down the bunny slope.

I did get a fun text from AC recounting some of the funny things that she’d heard ski school kids say. My favorite comes from a little girl who pee’d her pants then said, “Uh oh. Mommy’s going to be real grumpy.”
My first week back in NM was a slow one because I was still recovering from my cold. I was finally feeling better on Sunday and AC had that day off so we went skiing again. AC promised a co-worker snowboarding lessons which was great because that meant the pace was nice and slow–right up my alley! It snowed on us all day and that lift to the top of the mountain was COLD!

The real cold came on Monday and Tuesday, though, when low temperatures were in the -20s and the windchill plummeted to -40ish. I went outside on Tuesday to grab something from our truck and I had to run back inside within 5 minutes because my hands had already gone numb. Yikes!

So now we’re back to normal and will cruise through our last 10 days here in Angel Fire.
We’ve now seen how inconsistent I can be when “settled” so instead of getting your hopes up for another update before we leave, I’m going to go ahead and promise that I won’t post again until we’re back on the road 😉
Until next time,
Charli

beautiful scene and post!
