Wednesday was a BIG DAY! We found our realtor had our first sit-down.
How did we choose our realtor?
We had a hard time deciding who to list our house with. It was important to both of us that we support women, But we weren’t sure what else to look for. And there are sooooo many highly-rated female realtors out there so a Google search wasn’t very helpful in narrowing down our pool.
Our neighborhood has been pretty active recently so I decided to check out Zillow and see what some of our neighbors had recently sold for and who they listed with. I found two houses nearby that were listed by the same realtor and sold at or above asking. The one that sold above asking, got a whopping $8k more than they asked. I looked up that realtor and she happened to be a woman AND have an all female team. We called her up and asked if she would sprinkle some of her magic in our house!
Meeting our realtor for the first time!
Ok, back to our meeting with Crystal.
She arrived and we immediately liked her. She joined us at our messy island (because that’s the central hub of the house now that we don’t have any furniture) and talked to us about our goals, showed us some comps, and answered a list of questions we had for her. After her walkthrough, she promptly told us that we could easily list for $10k more than we’d planned AND probably get even more with multiple offers. Say it again, Crystal!
We picked a listing date and she left us with some homework and a very good feeling about what’s to come.
Mobile Housing
That afternoon, we went shopping for our turtle shell (as my mother calls it). We plan to outfit the bed of our truck with a sleeping platform so we don’t have to spend much money on hotels in between our farmstays. The most important aspect of this plan–put a roof over our heads. We went to a local truck outfitter and spent our estate sale profits on a shiny new truck cap! More on this in a later post, but this purchase was a big step toward our upcoming adventure!
Until next time,
Charli
