We took a 3-week detour, but today we fly back to Austin to pick up where we left off!
Quick recap:
Right before our scheduled departure from New Mexico, AC had a snowboarding accident that separated her shoulder. We made a beeline for our next long-ish stop, Austin, TX, where we were told we should really have the surgery wherever we plan to end up (so AC can do post-op stuff) so we booked a next-day ticket to NC and Dr. Bokshan fixed her up a week later. Surgery went well despite the surgeon having to pivot his approach because, as he said, “AC has really weird anatomy and her bone is curved.” The recovery, on the other hand, started off pretty rough. The first few days AC was in a lot of pain but was also dealing with nausea that eventually got so bad she quit taking all pain meds, thinking those might be causing her upset tummy. Finally after 10 days she felt normal.
AC has had 2 PT appointments but she is doing all her rehab exercises at home. Yesterday marked two weeks since her surgery and she had her first post-op appointment with the doctor. She had her stitches removed and x-rays taken to show her “new” shoulder.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming starting with Austin!
Thanks for sticking with us!
Until next time,
Charli
Yay so happy to hear this!
